Humana's CenterWell and Conviva will run the new primary care centers with a focus on seniors. The locations will open at 23 Walmart Supercenters in Florida, Georgia, Missouri, and Texas. Each center will be located next to a Walmart in space formerly occupied by Walmart Health. Walmart Health announced all 51 of its centers would close back in April due to a lack of profits, though the retail giant has continued to run pharmacies and optical centers. According to USA Today, Walmart used to have 23 health centers in Florida alone. "Our priority will be ensuring the people and communities who are impacted are treated with the utmost respect, compassion and support throughout the transition," Walmart officials stated in the spring. "We are deeply grateful to these associates and providers for their caring service to patients in our communities and to the patients who trusted us with their care." The new CenterWell health centers will open in these Southern metropolitan areas by June 2025: Tampa/St Petersburg Jacksonville Atlanta Dallas/Fort Worth Orlando Kansas City "We are excited by the unique opportunity to lease space from a world-class community partner such as Walmart and offer seniors in these four states greater access to our integrated approach to care," Dr. Sanjay Shetty, president of CenterWell, stated in a press release. “CenterWell is committed to providing seniors with high quality health care that is accessible, comprehensive, and most of all, personalized." CenterWell and Conviva make a point of offering more one-on-one time with physicians and other medical providers; and coordinate care with a team of care coaches, behavioral health specialists, and pharmacists.
