Alert! We Have A Premiere Date For Hallmark’s ‘The Chicken Sisters’

Clear the calendar, gather your friends on the couch, and perhaps it’s time to try your hand at some homemade fried chicken. We officially have the premiere date for the TV series we are most excited about this fall. Hallmark first announced back in May that they were adapting KJ Dell’Antonia’s New York Times best-selling novel The Chicken Sisters into a brand-new family drama set in a fictional town in the South. 

Today the masters of feel-good television announced that their new streaming service and membership program Hallmark + will launch September 10, 2024. Hallmark + will be the hub for movies you love, new unscripted shows, and several new series and films airing exclusively on the streamer. They aren’t wasting any time either. The Chicken Sisters will premiere on Hallmark + on the very day the service debuts. 

The eight-episode TV adaptation of this beloved book tells the story of a generations-old rift between dueling fried chicken restaurants – Mimi’s and Frannie’s that has divided the small town of Merinac. Everyone has to pick a side. Families and friendships have all fallen victim to this fried-chicken feud. A TV crew from the popular reality show Ultimate Kitchen Clash descend upon Merinac and things heat up both inside and outside of the kitchen. Sparks fly, secrets are spilled, and feathers get ruffled. 

The Chicken Sisters’ cast is full of star power including Schuyler Fisk (Sam & Kate), Genevieve Angelson (The Handmaid’s Tale), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future), Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me!) James Kot (Virgin River), Rukiya Bernard (Yellowjackets), Ektor Rivera (Groundswell), and Jake Foy (Ride). As we previously reported, Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale will serve as the show’s narrator. 

After the first episode premieres on September 10, a new episode will premiere every Thursday starting September 12.
