Taylor Sheridan’s highly anticipated Yellowstone follow-up officially has a leading lady—and a title.

Three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer will star in and executive produce the spinoff series titled The Madison. The present-day continuation of the Dutton family saga, which long had the working title 2024, is set to take place after the events of Yellowstone

Per a Paramount news release, The Madison is described as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”

“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace,” Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement. “She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, The Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.”

Fans of Sheridan’s television empire will recall that Matthew McConaughey was initially in talks to star in the series, though a deal was seemingly never made. The actor hasn’t publicly commented on the matter.

As for what The Madison holds for the Duttons, limited details have given rise to rampant speculation. The show was previously described as a “sequel” series that would take place after the events of Yellowstone though it’s unclear to what extent. The Madison was initially billed as a continued exploration of the Dutton family dynasty with new and old characters and locations… as well as some existing characters.

Meanwhile, filming on the final installment of Yellowstone is wrapping up. It is scheduled to return Sunday, November 10th.

This is a developing story.
