McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves McConaughey, shared a joint post on Instagram to mark their son Levi’s 16th birthday. Over a photo of the Dallas Buyers Club actor and his eldest son, he offered some sage wisdom. "All right, Levi. Coming on that age, buddy," McConaughey says in his voiceover. "About to be out on your own. Me and your mom hope we've done as good of a job as we can. You're not gonna really have us as a safety net out there in the wonderful, wild world forever." He continued, "Just go out and enjoy. Be aware of your surroundings.” “Be yourself. Know when to say yes. Know when to say no. Know when to say maybe," McConaughey adds, laughing. "See the good in everybody else but know that not everyone else is always paying attention." McConaughey then shares some advice that is not only important to impart on a teenage boy starting out in the world, but is an important reminder to all of us. "Take your time, enjoy the journey."
