We love to shower our Southern mothers in love and gratitude throughout the year, but there’s something special about Mother’s Day that has us pulling out all the stops.

New Orleans Saints rookie and former Alabama cornerback Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry presented mom Geneva Allen with a very special Mother’s Day gift this past weekend. The Birmingham, Alabama native brought his mother out to Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham and gifted her a brand-new Mercedes-Benz SUV—Allen’s dream car.

McKinstry posted a video on his Instagram account of the surprise, and we’re welling up over Mom’s sweet reaction to this incredible gift. In the clip, Allen gives her son a big hug and sheds a few tears in the passenger’s seat. McKinstry captioned the post: “First purchase. Congrats, Ma. U deserve it all.” Allen posted pictures on her page, as well, with the caption: “Blessed‼️‼️‼️ Nun else to say. Thanks for making this Mother’s Day one to remember.” She used the adorable hashtag: #ABlessingToHisMomma.

McKinstry recently made headlines for joining the New Orleans Saints as a second-round draft pick. He also collaborated with the Kool-Aid Man himself on a limited-edition Black Cherry Blitz drink mix flavor. The football player’s nickname, Kool-Aid, was given to him at birth by his grandmother upon seeing a big grin on his face.

We love this demonstration of gratitude to a deserving mom who no doubt helped her son reach his NFL dreams. (You can’t come between a Southern Mom and her boy, after all!) It’s a good reminder that we can continue to pamper Mom—the woman who truly does deserve it all—every day of the year. If you need a few ideas on where to start, we’ve got you covered.
