"I think everybody would like to be in love... It may have to be defined in a different way, but yeah, I love the idea of that possibility."

Kevin Costner is getting ready for a new page in his long professional career with his highly-anticipated western, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1. As the first installment of the four-part movie is now set to premiere in theaters on June 28, 2024, Costner is looking towards a possible new chapter in his personal life, too.

The actor who left Yellowstone to focus on Horizon, sat down with People to talk about the film and his life, on-screen and off. “I’ve had an incredibly unusual — and, for the most part, beautiful — life,” Costner told People. “I’ve taken some really big bites out of life, and life has taken some really big ones out of me, and I’ve never let it harden me and I’m not going to.”

That desire to stop himself from being hardened by life, extends to his love life, too. While the actor was recently divorced from Christine Baumgartner, the 69-year-old actor is open to finding love again. "Yeah, I think everybody would like to be in love," he told People. "There's such a good feeling that's associated with that. It may have to be defined in a different way, but yeah, I love the idea of that possibility."

The priority now for the Field of Dreams actor, though, is getting Horizon out into the world and being present for his seven children. “It’s really about the children,” the actor and filmmaker says. “I am still teaching my kids. And by the way, I’m still learning.”

Costner’s family includes four adult children and three teens, including his youngest son, Hayes, 15, who will appear alongside his father in Horizon. The film has been a long-time passion project for the Oscar-winning actor. He now-famously revealed that even mortgaged one of his beachfront properties to help finance the project.
