"So a very hard goodbye to a close island friend, Curtney Chinnery AKA ‘The Ghost From Jost’,” Chesney wrote on his Facebook page. “He was a part of island life for so many years. Someone I thought would just always be there. He was so curious and full of imagination and one of the most creative human beings I've ever met. That's how we connected. Creativity. He was a poet among poets and I'm gonna miss him for so many reasons. So goodbye my brother and thank you for your friendship and all the laughs." As many members of Chesney’s fan base, No Shoes Nation, know the country star spends a lot of time on the island of St. John. In fact, his time in the Virgin Islands inspired one of his more personal albums, 2013's Life On A Rock, where he reflects on his “other life” spent on the beach, far away from the pressures of being a chart-topping superstar. A few tracks on the album resonate in the wake of his loss, particularly “Lindy”, which was written about another St. John local that Chesney got to know, and “It’s That Time of Day” where Chesney sings, “This ain’t a goodbye, it’s ‘til I see you again.” Was this page helpful?
