And when I left, I went, ‘It’d be kind of fun to do a show there,’” Urban told the crowd during the concert. Despite giving just a few hours notice, fans turned out in droves for the impromptu performance outside the gas station in Athens. As for how the show came to be, Urban said his “caveman brain” told him it would be fun to set up “a little stage” for a small audience. “I swear to you, I thought maybe 100, 200 people…,” he recalled with a laugh. In the end, about 5,500 people turned out for the show, Athens Police Department Capt. Brett Constable told the Associated Press. Let the record show that Urban did a lot more than sing at the roadside oasis. The “Somebody Like You” singer also worked at the legendary barbecue counter. Urban shared a video of himself performing something Buc-ee’s fans love to hear: the “fresh brisket” call. Another video shows Urban using a giant ladle to cover a serving of the chain’s famous chopped brisket with sauce. “Fresh sauce on the board!” the apron-clad superstar called out as a crowd of fans watched. It doesn’t get more country than that, folks Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
