The Texas-born star of Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You has called his family "the most fun family on the planet" and they seem to live up to the description. During a recent taping of the Today show, Powell was on hand to promote his new film Twisters (and to talk about his rescue pup Brisket) when he noticed two familiar faces in the crowd outside the studio—his parents. Cyndy and Glen Powell Sr. were there to playfully troll their son. His mom held up a sign that read, “I changed Glen Powell’s diapers” while his father’s sign said, “Glen Powell is our force of nature,” playing off of the Twisters theme. When asked about them, Powell smiled. "Yeah, I recognize both of these jokers," he said, cracking a smile. Of course, this isn’t the first time that his parents have teased their famous son. They also showed up at his Hit Man screening in May, per Today. When asked about their gleeful support for their son, Cyndy told Today, “We have big FOMO, so this is really, really fun for us.” Powell clearly loves his parents and their playful sense of humor, too. “My family — always my mom and my dad — are known for kind of trolling me a bit,” Powell told Entertainment Tonight at a screening in Austin, Texas. There they carried signs that said, “Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen,” and another that read: “It’s never gonna happen." Powell posed right in front of them. "They thought that was going to be a funny idea so I loved it,” Powell said in an interview, adding, “Even though they troll me, they support me in every in every way.” While they tease him, he clearly knows they are they for him, too. The actor told Austin Weekly that they have supported his dream of being an actor since he was a boy. Plus, they don't just get to tease their son, they tend to get cameos in all of his movies, according to Today, including playing a pair of passengers on a plane in Anyone But You. “I have a huge, rowdy Texas crew who gets me in all the right kinds of trouble,” Powell told Nylon back in 2014. “If you are lucky enough to meet them, you’ll figure out quickly why I’m constantly home and that all of my farfetched and seemingly impossible stories about my family are actually all true."
