This treat is a bright and cheery Easter twist on the classic "Puppy Chow" snack mix. Named for its appearance, this is a human-only snack, so please don't feed chocolate to dogs—or bunnies for that matter.

The fan-favorite combo of peanut butter and chocolate are made even better with the addition of Chex rice cereal and Easter candy in this sweet and salty Bunny Chow Snack Mix.

What's in Easter Bunny Chow?

Made with just a handful of ingredients—chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter, Chex cereal, and powdered sugar—this snack is the perfect blend of sweet and savory, and chocolatey and crunchy.

The coated cereal creates an ideal base for Whoppers Robin Eggs, Easter M&Ms, pretzels, sprinkles, and more! You can keep it simple by just adding the M&Ms, or go all out. (We definitely suggest going all out!)

Tips for Making Easter Bunny Chow

This recipe is easy, but it does require a gentle hand. When folding the cereal with the chocolate-peanut butter mix, it’s important to be careful to avoid breaking the cereal. It’s normal to have a few broken pieces, but we want as many intact as possible.

The same goes for shaking the chocolate-coated cereal with the powdered sugar. It’s best to start gently by flipping the bag over several times. Then, once most of the cereal is coated in powdered sugar, shake the bag gently like a bunny's tail to fully coat.

  2. Make peanut butter-chocolate mixture:

Melt the peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter together in a medium-sized bowl in the microwave on HIGH in 10-second increments. Stir every 10 seconds until the mixture is smooth.

  3. Add peanut butter-chocolate to cereal:

Place the cereal in a large bowl and pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal.

  5. Shake on powdered sugar:

Once the cereal is fully coated, add it to a large zip top bag. Sprinkle the powdered sugar on top of the cereal in the bag, then gently rotate the bag from one side to the other. Once most of the cereal is coated in powdered sugar, you can give it a few gentle shakes until all the cereal is fully coated.

  6. Add candies:

Next, pour the cereal onto a baking sheet or a large plate to cool and add seasonal toppings. Easter egg candies, Easter sprinkles, Easter M&Ms, and yogurt covered pretzels all work great with this snack mix. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3 days or up to a week in the refrigerator. May be kept frozen for up to a month.
