A group of Texas dance dads spent their Father’s Day working to replace stolen props from their children’s dance studio.

Security video captured footage of a truck pulling into the Dance & Arts Connection studio in Royse City, Texas, and later leaving with a trailer full of dance props and equipment from the studio.

Studio owner Vicky Stanton said she couldn’t believe it when she discovered the props were gone. With a national dance competition just a week away, Stanton said despair came over her and her dancers.

And, “hurt for the kids; it’s all about the kids,” Stanton told NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.

Stanton took to Facebook to ask for help, posting pictures of the stolen props she needed to replace, "NEED SOMETHING LIKE THIS. KNOW IT'S A LONG SHOT."

Knowing “the show must go on,” the studio’s prop dads didn't waste any time. They came together on Father’s Day to rebuild the props their dancers needed to compete.

“Everybody just kind of came together, and it was really humbling,” Staton told Southern Living.

Support came from beyond her own studio family as well. In the highly competitive Texas dance environment, she took calls from other studios offering their own props.

“I was overwhelmed,” Stanton said. “We cried. We all cried.”

The trailer has been recovered after it was found on Interstate 20 about two hours from the studio. Both the trailer and some of the props inside were damaged in the theft.

A suspect has been taken into custody, according to a post on the Rockwell County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

Stanton and her dancers head to Rock Springs, Arkansas, for their competition with their faith in humanity restored.
