Heads Up Charlotte: Channing Tatum Is Filming A Movie In Town And Here's How You Can Be In It

Residents of Charlotte, North Carolina could get a chance to relive a notorious moment in the Queen City's past by appearing in movie starring Alabama-native Channing Tatum based on real events from the not so distant past.

Roofman tells the story of Jeffrey Manchester, a real-life serial robber who broke into dozens of McDonald's around the country until he was finally arrested in 2000 in North Carolina. He escaped four years later in film-worthy fashion, clinging to the bottom of a delivery truck. Manchester hid out for two months in a Toys R Us and an empty Circuit City store in Charlotte before his recapture, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Tatum of Magic Mike fame will play the robber, portraying him as a "good man" who makes "bad decisions" and later gets "entangled in a web of unexpected relationships," according to the casting call. (This is the movies, after all.) Derek Cianfrance will direct and filming is set to begin in October.

The Charlotte Film Commission has advertised crew positions, while The Cast Station is looking for people to play secondary roles including real dental assistants and hygienists, news anchors, judges and court employees, police and prison employees, and more. Interested locals can download the Limelight app and submit a video about themselves. The roles pay $1,204 a day and could involve speaking a couple of lines, The Charlotte Observer reports.

Who knows—maybe you'd even get to say a few words to a movie star.
