Finding that one incredible treasure waiting for you in an antique shop is the best feeling but, once you've walked up and down each aisle, the hunt is over. And, sometimes, you want more. You want to stroll through endless vendor booths of vintage and antique finds, hoping to find just the item you've had on your wish list. You want to be surrounded by vintage lovers who all have the same obsession with seeing the beauty in old stuff.

The best place to immerse yourself in all things vintage and antiques is at an antique market or show, of which there are several throughout the South. These are the events where vendors come together from across the region for a multi-day event that shows off the best of their collections. People come from far and wide for a bucket list trip to Round Top, or they plan a trip to Nashville around the iconic flea. If there's that one white whale item that's been evading you, these are the places to find it.

The Best Antique Markets in the South

Here are the shows to add to your calendar if you're looking for the thrill of the hunt on a larger scale.

Round top antiques fair on a sunny day

The Original Round Top Antiques Fair

Round Top Antiques Fair

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the antique shows. Round Top Antiques Show has 50 venues over an 11-mile stretch of rural Texas. There are over 4,000 antiques dealers, and the range is impressive, with something for everyone in terms of style and price point. While the antiques fair was found in 1968, its popularity skyrocketed in the last five years and it's now a destination rather than a designer insider secret.

"Each venue has its own vibe and personality which makes it fun to shop. At Blue Hills you can find high end European antiques and one of a kind pieces as well as accessible Mid-Century and vintage finds. At the Big Red Barn and Continental Tent, you will find exclusively antique items and rare museum quality art and antiquities," says Stephanie Layne Disney, Show Manager, The Original Round Top Antiques Fair.

Want to plan a trip, but don't live in Texas? With Round Top's explosive growth has come an onslaught of businesses catering to those traveling from afar. "So many fabulous hotels and restaurants have opened in the last few years; it's become such an enjoyable weekend getaway," notes Disney.

Marburger Farm Antique Show

Marburger Farm Antique Show is known as one of the grande dames of Round Top, TX. With over 300 exhibitors, Marburger has a range of antiques and treasure that cover both United States-sourced antiques as well as sought-after European antiques.

This is where you go to find everything from a centuries-old French armoire to a funky mid-century chair to, of course, a few primitive pieces that might be right at home in a Texas ranch.

Scott Antique Market

Scott Antique Market has two locations—one in Atlanta and one in Columbus, OH. Atlanta holds monthly, weekend-long markets that bring in over 2,000 vendors to their indoor venue at the Atlanta Expo Center (that indoor part is key during the summer!).

They boast that they're the world's largest monthly indoor antiques festival, and their carefully crafted maps make the size seem less intimidating. Expect to find furniture, rugs, silver, and anything else your antique-loving heart desires.

Lucketts Market in the fall

Lucketts Market

Luckett's Vintage Market

What started as a parking lot market outside of a vintage store has now evolved into a weekend-long affair at the Clarke County Fairgrounds in Berryville, Virginia. Luckett's Vintage Market has spring and fall markets that bring in vendors selling furniture, pottery, clothing, decor, glassware, and everything in between.

"We highlight vendors in the Eastern region—most are local—with a mix of furniture and fun vintage hip items," says owner of The Old Lucketts Store and fonder of the Luckett's Vintage Market Suzanne Eblen.

Luckett's has built a loyal following, with groups coming in from out of town to this tiny rural town and making a weekend out of it. There's also have an early bird ticket available on Friday that designers and serious vintage hunters often spring for so they can get their hands on first pick of the vintage finds.

From November to June, you'll find over 200 vendors displaying their wares monthly at the West Palm Beach Antiques Festival. This is where you'll pick up everything from stunning estate jewelry to old Florida decor to midcentury finds and fabulous vintage clothing.

Located at the South Florida fairgrounds, each weekend market lasts three days, with early shopping available from 9 AM to 12 PM on the first day.

Renninger's Antiques and Collector's Extravaganza

With shows in November, January, and February Renninger's Antiques and Collector's Extravaganza is truly an extravaganza of treasures. Renninger's Twin Markets in Mount Dora, Florida, is open every weekend, but this event brings in 800 vendors to set up shop in their antique center, show field, and under the shade of their pavilions.

The property spans over 100 acres of quintessential Florida landscape, dotted with live oaks and Spanish moss. Strolling through the perfect Florida winter weather, you can easily get lost exploring all of the antiques, oddities, and collectibles.

Raleigh Flea Market

Raleigh Flea Market

Raleigh Flea Market

Founded in 1971, the Raleigh Flea Market started out as just a few vendors selling at the state fairgrounds, but it's grown to an every weekend event, still at the Historic State Fairgrounds. There are over 1,000 vendors across six buildings and the grounds, and many have made this their vintage selling home for decades. You'll find handicrafts, furniture, dishware, and more.

This market also looks to do good while curating good finds. They highlight a different non-profit each week.

Fleur de Flea

Several times a year, the Fleur de Flea takes over the waterfront plaza in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. Their permanent indoor market, which spans 35,000 square feet in Paristown, Kentucky (hence the name!), has over 150 vendors, and they make their way into town for the outdoor market along the Ohio River.

There are antiques, vintage treasures, clothing, and repurposed and upcycled items, along with food trucks and pop-up bars to keep the atmosphere fun.

Nashville Flea Market

The Nashville Flea Market has been drawing buyers out to The Fairgrounds since 1969, when they held the first vintage-fueled flea market. They now hold markets the fourth weekend of every month, and each month has its own theme. You could have 'Endless Summer' in August or 'Fall Harvest' in September. There are over 1,000 vendors from across the country, so you can find practically anything you're dreaming of.

DC Big Flea and Antiques Market

The DC Big Flea and Antiques Market is the mid-Atlantic's largest flea market, and you'll find everything from rare antiques to vintage collectibles. Held three times a year at the Dulles Expo Center, about 45 minutes outside of DC in Chantilly, Virginia, this sale is also known for bringing in vendors with specific curated collections, like Bakelite jewelry or Wedgewood.

127 Yard Sale

If you're looking for one of the more unusual concepts in antique markets and shows, head to the 127 Yard Sale. Billing themselves as the World's Longest Yard Sale, this event spans four days, six states, and 690 miles. It goes from Michigan all the way down to Alabama, stopping in Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, among other states.

Hitting every location may need to be a multi-year goal, but you can plan to go through the sales in one or two states over the course of the four days.
